Dear Friends and Family,
As I type this letter I am looking out my window onto 8 inches of clean white snow. The houses, roofs and trees are covered, and it reminds me of the snow globes we played with as a child. Quite a change from Savannah! We want to thank you for your prayer and financial support during this past year, as it has definitely been a year of change for us.
So, you ask, what has God been teaching us through all these changes? Max Lucado summed it up best at the National Missionary Conference in November. His sermon was “It’s Not About Me and It’s Not About Now!” Whenever I get overwhelmed (which is sometimes daily) and things are totally out of control, I am reminded that it truly is not about ME but about our Lord Jesus Christ. When things move or change slowly or not at all I have to tell myself over again, “It’s not about NOW.” (We try so hard to get God to bless whatever ministry we are doing rather than join Him in the ministry he is already blessing.)
God has truly blessed us even though we never ever thought we would be doing what we are doing at this stage in our life. Did I think I would be living in the country and spending my days decluttering a warehouse? Did Charlie envision himself lifting boxes and packing containers? Did we ever think that sorting clothing or repairing a copier could bless people we may never meet, in places we may never be allowed to go?
The rewards of this ministry come from meeting missionaries who go away excited by the supplies that will enable them to minister to many peoples’ needs. One clothing container alone can clothe 32,000 individuals, with each person getting at least two pieces of clothing. I used to pray over my family’s laundry as I was putting it away....now I pray over clothing that might be the only contact some person will ever have with Jesus Christ.
How can you pray for us?
1. Pray for our physical health as this is very physically demanding work!
2. Pray for our children’s safety as they travel....all the chicks will be in “The Nest” this Christmas.
3. Pray for friendships and ministry opportunities here. You spoiled us so much over the years with your friendship that we are finding it hard to start over.
We love you , miss you, and yes, we’ve left the light on just for you! May you and your family have a blessed Christmas this year!
In Him,
Kathy and Charlie
