News from the Nest

Dear Friends,

It's a beautiful day in the Shenandoah Valley! Charlie is at the mission this Saturday morning with a men's Bible Study group who have volunteered to work today. We have a large variety of people who have volunteered just this week. We have had a sorority from Bridgewater College, Girl Scouts, Mennonite Church groups, Senior Citizens, youth groups, and individuals. We have already had 140 volunteers this month. God is so good!

With spring our work load increases as auctions are now a daily part of our life. Closely following auctions are staging containers for various missions. We are currently staging items to be sent to Liberia, Tajikistan, Gutamala and Ethiopia.

We are continuing to pray for full time staff and volunteers that will come on a weekly basis. The work never ends but it is gratifying to see Mount Clothesmore looking more like a "foot hill" than a towering mass of clothing! We have made some substantial "dents" in it! So far we are keeping up with our goal of 125 boxes a week.

Yesterday a dear lady brought in several boxes of "clean" clothing that smelled wonderful compared to the musty, dusty, black plastic mounds of clothing. I thanked her and told her how nice it was to have clean clothes. She looked rather perplexed and said, "Well, I wouldn't bring in anything less. After all, don't these clothes go out in Jesus' name!" A huge smile came over my face as I recognized this woman as the same person who had called previously and asked if we took "used clothing" and "did they have to be nice?". I had told her we only send the best, because they go out in Jesus' name! What a blessing to hear my words coming from her lips!

We recently were able to send 4000 Bibles to Sudan that had been in the ETS basement for 5 years. What a blessing to be able to send them on their way. God is so good.

Well, I see Charlie is back from the mission and looking hungry. Thanks for praying!
