Dear Friends and Family,
What a busy month this has been for us at ETS! This is auction month and Charlie and I have been to several now. Most of the auctions are school board or state auctions and most of the things auctioned go for pennies on the dollar of the retail price. The hard part is loading them on the truck and bringing them back to the mission—since they need to be unloaded and then stored until they can be loaded on a container and sent to overseas missionaries. It is exciting to see how God multiplies the few dollars we have in order to equip those who desperately need these resources.
We have had several church groups volunteer to help pack clothing, unload trucks, build a rack for holding projector screens, check computer monitors, and do general maintenance of the building. Last week we got in over four thousand pounds of clothing that was donated from a local consignment shop as well as several hundred pounds of clothing from local churches’ garage sales. Currently our clothing “mountain” is all the way to the ceiling in the gym and we estimate it to be approximately 40 thousand pounds of clothing, all of which needs to be sorted and processed! Since these clothes go out in the name of Jesus, every article of clothing is carefully inspected and will not go out if it is stained, soiled, torn, or inappropriate . We will be experimenting with a baler in the next few months to see if we can make bundles of clothing that can be handled more efficiently than boxes.
Charlie and I are preparing for the National Missionary Convention in November. We will have a booth so we are busy making a display and working on a power point presentation. Please pray that we will be able to present ETS effectively to both missionaries and those looking for a place to serve. Last year, nearly 300 missionaries were at this convention, and they all could potentially use our help!
We appreciate your prayers and your support more than we can express.
