It's January and it's cold here in Virginia. What I thought was going to be a slower month at the mission has not worked out that way. We have been very busy supplying various missionaries that have been coming by. We have had several volunteers already this month and if the weather continues to hold , we will be doing a clothing container to Tajisktan this Saturday.
Our gym is completely blocked with towering boxes of clothing about 8 feet high. We have narrow pathways to navigate our way in and around copiers, screens, books and various other things. We are hoping to gain some wiggle room by eliminating approxamately 800 boxes of clothing ( about 25,000 pounds) which will be going into the 40 foot container.
This is a live load which means we will have US inspectors supervising the loading and taking pictures of the contents of random boxes. The US government pays for the shipping under the guidelines of Operation Provide Hope. With the recent earthquake in Iran this clothing is desparately needed and will be distributed by CADA (Central Asia Development Agency) which will see that it gets into the hands of the people.
We come home tired every night, we have found new muscles that ach that we never knew we had, we hear of never ending needs throughout the world, and yet we are blessed to be a small part of it all , and in a miniscule way we are making a global impact.....Could life be any better than this?
