Today is Saturday and normally a day when the mission is closed. Not today, we had two very lively groups of teens come swooping through the building. In the morning 18 junior highers folded and boxed clothing and moved various items out of the basement as well as unloading 4000 pounds of clothing that was donated from a local consignment store. I wish you could have seen them....they love scaling our mountain of clothing .

We also had two dear friends from our church volunteer to repair sewing machines. (Vern and Delfina Schaeffer repair commercial sewing machines for a living. ) They were able to repair several and get them ready to ship out.

Saturday afternoon the second wave of teens arrived and helped us box and sort clothing (I think they tried on more than they sorted) as well as help load a dump truck with assorted metal machinery that can be recycled. The boys were also instrumental in moving electronic equippment upstairs ( it's amazing how they don't mind running up and down stairs) as well as checking out cassette players. I know it sounds silly but when you have a lot of cassette players it takes time to just plug them in, hit fast forward, reverse, play and eject!

With all the volunteer help, we estimated 96 hours of labor was contributed to the mission today and what's more everyone had fun. We did not get to load a container (the paperwork did not come through), but it was a very productive day!
