October 2006

Dear Friends and Family,

We are officially into fall….my favorite season and the most colorful here in the Shenandoah Valley. At our peak season all the hotels and motels are full with visitors taking in the beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The weather is cooler and we are breaking out the quilts and enjoying the bounty of the season.

I love apple everything, pumpkin everything and all the beautiful mums. The trees are starting to change colors and it’s not unusual to have corn mazes, hay rides, and even “pumpkin chunking” cannons. Charlie and I have a grape vine behind the house and every year we say to ourselves….”We really need to do something with those Concord grapes.” This year we actually harvested them and made some kicking grape jelly . We naturally think it tastes so much better than Welch’s but we may be a bit biased.

The container for Guatemala went out September 26th. We had six hours to load it so it was definitely a challenge. We had spent days palletizing items and also loading up filing cabinets drawers with paper, dividers, notebooks and school supplies. We were all exhausted by the end of the day but it was exciting to see the container leave the dock after so much preparation.

We just received word that we will no longer be able to send clothing to Tajikistan . The Tajik government has asked our Christian distributor to focus more on developmental programs rather than relief programs. Our used clothing ministry is looking for other ministries that are in need of this service.

Charlie and I will be going to the National Missionary Conference in Indianapolis in November. The conference is always during my birthday so Charlie tells me he always takes me to “Exotic” places on my birthday (Cincinnati, Peoria, and Atlanta). Our daughter Suzy is researching places of interest in that area so we plan on taking a mini vacation and do some sight seeing.

We would love to share the beauty of the season with you. We do have a guest room if you are interested. Thank you for your love and support. We appreciate your interest and support so much.

Blessings,

Charlie and Kathy Bennetch
