January 2008
Dear Friends and Family,
Greetings from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. We are finally getting cold weather that is so typical for this time of year. We are very glad that we are able to heat the nest with wood as the cost of fuel keeps increasing. Charlie says wood is the only fuel that heats you twice. Once while you are chopping it down and once again while heating our home. He is quite good at being a lumber Jack (so I guess that makes me a lumber Jill!)
We are excited about some containers coming up in the next few months. Plans are in the making for three to four containers, two for Bangladesh, one for Romania, and one for Cameroon. We have been blessed with a mountain load of new clothing from a local graphics company. (Mount Clothesmore is back!) Now comes the hard work of boxing the contents for shipment in a very cold gym.
January is the month for making plans and sharing our prayer requests. Here are our top 5 requests for 2008. Thank you in advance for your prayers and for your continuing support.
1. We are in desperate need of full time staff.
2. We need to connect with ministries that are need of items we can supply.
3. We need to find outlets that can process our surplus supplies more efficiently.
4. We need to have a better system to inventory items.
5. We need to be able to mobilize a volunteer work force on short notice.
On a personal note our precious Emma turns a year old this month on the 18th. We can’t remember life without her and she certainly has been a blessing to her “Diva and Poppa.” We pray this letter finds you healthy and warm.
Blessings for the New Year,
Charlie and Kathy
