September 2008
Dear Friends and Family,
If you try to keep up with Charlie recently, you will be doing lots of climbing. “Hanging out” has taken on new meaning as we have been featuring flags from several countries that have received materials and equipment from us. We are always thankful to our volunteer groups who help with maintenance of our building and other projects. The colorful flags brighten up the building and remind us daily of our global prayer responsibilities for the missionaries we serve.
We were so honored to have a tremendous group of volunteers from Tomoka Christian Church of Ormond Beach, Florida. This group of 15 came with the determination to work and work hard. In their short time here they were able to pack, box and sort over 3 tons of clothing, paint our hallway, recycle metal, sort hundreds of medical scissors and instruments as well as run new outlets in the gym floor so we can plug in space heaters this winter.
We were able to “borrow” a missionary from India to speak to the group. Kishore Pangagade (pronounced T-shore, like seashore) is the president of Calcutta Bible College. Calcutta Bible college was founded by William Careywho is known as the father of modern missions. We were reminded that if the US had the same number of Christian ministers per capita as India that there would only be 12 in our whole country!
We are looking at doing another container for Meserete Kristos College in Addis Ababa,
Ethiopia the weekend of September 12th. We are looking to getting some help from “Second Story” ( twenty-ish group) from Savannah Christian Church. We will be sending bunk beds, solid core doors and supplies for the new dormitories they are building. We are so grateful for strong backs and willing hearts that help us fill the sea container. Please pray for this group as they travel to and from Georgia.
We are anxiously awaiting news later this month ( September 22) of the birth of our new grandson. Tim and Suzy have his room done in a “Cowboy” theme . We would appreciate your prayers for a safe delivery and for the health of both mother and son.
Blessings,
Charlie and Kathy
