Dear Friends and Family,
We enjoyed our time in Virginia Beach . We were able to spend time with my mom and catch up on her “fix it list”. Charlie is very handy and can repair most anything. He was able to reset clocks, plant a new rosebush, repair the back fence (the neighbors dogs were roaming around in her backyard) , fix the fax machine and replace the 3 way light socket in her favorite lamp. It only took us about 5 trips to Home Depot for the necessary tools and supplies.
We enjoyed the Rapid Response Training Session at Regent University. The sessions were very good and we were quite impressed with the integrity of the program. The Rapid Response teams work with existing churches as well as local and state relief agencies. They stress that “Healthy people help people, hurt people hurt people.” Our commitment would be one emergency in two years and we would serve no longer than seven days at a time. This was the first step in the training process to be a “Chaplain” with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Teams. We feel that this will be a good outlet for our pastoral and counseling skills.
Father’s Day weekend we were able to have an extended time with our grandson Oscar. Suzy, Tim and Oz arrived late Friday night and Tim treated Suzy to a get-away in Charlottesville for their anniversary on Saturday. Diva and Poppa were only to glad to play with our boy. Poppa uses every opportunity to teach Oscar about nature, birds, the wind, every tree in our yard, gardening, electricity and everything a young boy needs to know. Oscar was impressed and will say , “Wix it Poppa” (Oscar speak for “Fix it”) whenever anything isn’t right or working.
We are so blessed to have a heavenly “Poppa” that will never leave us or forsake us and is able to do the impossible. We praise God for your help and encouragement. We count it a joy and a privilege to be part of your support team as well.
