April Newsletter........2007
Dear Friends and Family,
Spring is finally here and we are enjoying the wonderful warm weather and the burst of colors . I am anxiously waiting for the lilacs under my window to start blooming as I love their deep rich purple color and the heavenly smell. I love nothing better than sitting at my desk late at night with the windows open, breathing in the night air and scent of the lilacs.
Our new “to us” car was finally delivered and we are amazed at God’s provision for us. The 2001 Forrester Subaru is silver and in great condition. We have been detailing it and steam cleaning the interior and now our New York kids feel that we need to do a “road trip” to see how it performs on the open road. It costs us about a thousand dollars more than what we got for the Mazda but it is bigger , newer, and less miles. How we praise the Lord for His provision and your help! It is so wonderful not to have a car payment. Thank you for your help and support.
Charlie will be having surgery on April 10th for inguinal hernia repair. This hernia is on the other side from the hernia he had repaired two years ago. He does heavy lifting and loading everyday and when we do a container he is the load master which means he handles and places everything that goes in the container. He will be glad to have this surgery behind him as our schedule will only increase with warmer weather. Please lift him up in your prayers. His surgery will take place at 9:30 A.M.
We were finally able to get our container sent to Guatemala. We were all prepared with a work crew one Saturday morning. Imagine our surprise when we went to open the container brought from Norfolk to find it already filled. The container had to be rescheduled and new volunteers contacted. This has never happened to before and the shipping company was very embarrassed and apologetic . We were able to fill the container with much needed relief supplies Wednesday evening. Our volunteers came after working and helped us fill the container in the rain. We definitely felt like Ephesians 6:12 was in effect : “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm.”
We are looking forward to our annual pilgrimage to Savannah. We were hoping to come in April but because of Charlie’s surgery it will be postponed . We are looking at May 6-11. We would love to meet with your small group while we are in town and personally thank you for your help and support.
We are looking forward to going to Canada to see Emma in early June. We are hoping to spend 4 or 5 days in Canada and to help Becky bring back Emma to our house. She will be able to spend a couple of weeks with us so we are planning on visiting Auntie Suzy, Uncle Tim and Uncle Andy in New York as well as great grandmother in Virginia Beach. Jerry will come later and spend some time with us and be able to escort his girls back home to Canada. Charlie is already thinking of places he wants to take Miss Emma like Willie’s (soft ice cream stand!)
Thank you for your prayers and financial support. Please pray for Charlie on April 10th as he has his surgery and for his quick recovery. He’s not the easiest patient I’ve ever cared for! We appreciate your prayers so much.
Blessings,
Charlie and Kathy Bennetch
