We’re back from our trips. April and May were very busy months for us but were also filled with fun, family, food and friends.
Thanks to some buddy passes from my sister (who works for United Airlines ), we were able to fly to Saskatoon to see our Canadians . What a joy to have Emma come running into our arms at the airport! It had been a year since we had seen her so we were not sure if she would be shy around us.
I really believe our weekly “Skype” video visits on the computer help to keep us connected. We tried very hard to pack a year’s worth of play into our visit.
We arrived in Saskatoon to snow flurries and a stiff wind. We were glad we brought our coats.
The week went by much too quickly for us. We were able to meet many friends and visit favorite places of Emma and her parents.
I loved spending Mother's Day with Becky and Emma. Four years ago, I got a call on Mother's Day from Becky telling me that I was going to be a grandmother. What a blessing to be able to spend my first Mother's Day with daughter now that she is a mother.
April 19th through the 26th found us in Savannah, Georgia. We make a yearly visit back to our home church to see special friends, small groups, Bible studies, and to visit with the missions committee. We always look forward to this time even though we stay extremely busy.
We lived in Savannah for 17 years so it is always a blessing to “go home”.
Lest you think our trips are all tiring and very demanding, please note that we have a standing order to pick up pralines at Savannah Sweets for our kids as well as teas from the Tea Room
On May 2nd, Blue Ridge Church of Christ reached out into the community and volunteered throughout the city. Charlie and I worked with several groups . One group of ladies boxed clothing and shoes for Haiti. Another group assembled a shelving unit to house books and Bibles in the stock room and a third group sorted and palletized a heavy load of paper for printing ministries.
While all this activity was going on, we were also being blessed by a group that repaired and painted the tin roof on our “Nest”. Seven years ago we paid 1,000 dollars to have it painted professionally and it was definitely showing signs of wear.
The youth pastor came over the day before and power washed the roof as well as placed ladders on the roof. What a blessing to come home to the brightly shinning aluminum painted roof!
Apparently several people must have commented that the garage roof was in worse shape than the house roof, so it was also painted for us.
Thanks to all of you who have been praying for Charlie’s health. He has been taking medication for ulcers and is much improved. He thinks taking Ibuprofen for the last 7 years for various aches and pains from heavy lifting and moving caused the problem.
His energy level is back to normal and we continue to eat gluten-free. We were amazed at many new foods we found in Canada that are gluten free and he especially enjoyed these.
Emma brought gluten free cupcakes to the airport and helped Poppa eat them. Poppa had the same look on his face too!
Thanks for your prayers and support. Please know that you are a very valuable member of our team and we enjoy teaming with you to reach others for Christ. Keep us in your prayers.
