News from the Nest

We always look forward to fall and the return of our friends from "Late Church" at Savannah Christian . We love having "returning" family members like Eric Horn, Karen Moses, Ben Plummer and Kyle Hoover and loved adding to the family with many new faces such as Carolyn Agee, Josh Anderson, Gabe Thomas, Bruce Roseman, Merline Labissiere and Jessie Scholten.

What fun to come to work on a Friday morning and be greeted by friends who came all the way from Savannah Georgia to help you load a container for Billy Loft (missionary to Nicaragua). The container held mostly summer clothing (992 boxes weighing over 34,000 pounds). We were still packing summer clothing into boxes while the guys were loading them .

We like each group to have some time with a visiting missionary. This year the group heard Jim Driscoll from Ghana and local "hero" Vickie Huddle, who teaches Weekday Religious Education in Harrisonburg school system. Virginia is one of the few states that allows release time during the week for religious education.

The group stayed at ETS so the trip is affordable. We have shower facilities as well as a small kitchen, refrigerator, microwaves, and washing machine and dryer. ETS is located in downtown rural Weyers Cave across the street from a diary farm.

We enjoy showing off our beautiful area and were excited to share the yearly Mennonite Relief sale with the group. They experienced home made apple butter, baked goods, freshly cooked potato chips, churned ice cream as well as hand crafted items that are auctioned to raise money for relief projects throughout the year.

We always enjoy having groups over to "the Nest". Charlie loves to share his enthusiasm for shooting cans with the pellet guns and I love feeding family.
